Ummmmm, well gee Officer, I noticed my truck was smoking a bunch the other day so I figured if I just floored it a couple of times I would blow it all out. So far it does not seem to be working....... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

Had a cop pull me over for no tail lights and then ask me if my truck was on fire. "no sir, she just burns a little bit of oilhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif" "A LITTLE BIT???http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif" That was after I finaly found the vicegrips to roll down my window wearing coveralls and winter hat and gloves since there was not heat. Asked me to open the door and I had to reach outside. I think he flet sorry for me so he didnt write me up, just told me to sit there till the sun came up(the sun was in the process of rising)http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

Did you get a fine?

Speaking of fires, I have a class 4 license which allows you to driver emergency vehicles. When I get pulled over that usually brings up the question 'are you a cop'? I am a volunteer fire fighter and that is what I tell them. That has got me out of quite a few tickets throughout the years. It seems like they have more respect for someone who donates their time to something that could save their family some day. Edited by: Max Power

I see you are from Canada, so i don't know how your license system works but its weird that you ahve to have a special license to drive Emergency Equipment!!! I too am/was a Volunteer for quite a few years.. We had special certifications to drive the trucks besides the Brush truck, but it is a basic class for the Ambulance and Crash/Air Truck.

For tankers trucks you aren;t supposed to take it unless you knwo how to pump water properly or have a tank operator riding shotgun..

But anyway, I too have gotten off becuase of my Volunteer status and that acknowledgement especially after the Huge floods we ahd here back in '99 when the hole department lived at the station for like 4 weeks...

What happen was I rolled by the Police station as usual and I had no reason to pay attention. He apparently rolled out of the garage and was behind me.

He was unmarked with strobes in the grill and headlamps, that's the problem with tint!

Any way rolled up to a stop light turned green I left with a squeal and a nice huff, heading up hill after the intersection. I was 20 feet from my gate when I noticed him coming. Oh the feeling when you yield and they don't take advantage.

He rolled up to my window luckly and not behind me and asked where's the fire.

Just gave me some tongue service I yellow'd and apoligized said I was late.He replied that IF he was writing me a ticket I'd be quite a bit later, it's 25 MPH zone.

My reply,Your absolutely right ,Officer.

Warning to self slow down ticket is forth coming!

I can beat this story EASY.. Sorry mac..

Very recenty running at the dyno.. new guy shows with dmax, i show up w/ tech 2 to run the truck for him.. runs quad 215, quad va, xcelerator, dmaximizer, & edge isn various combos.. lots smoke... finally get his truck off... i get on, make 1 warmup run and dyno operator tells me to turn off my truck as he sees a fire engine down the street.... waiting..waiting.. finally truck stops at a couple places then shows up... guys get out, i walk up to meet them.. they ask, "What as all that smoke coming out of the truck? is there a fire?"

I respond with, "There's something terribly wrong with it! I can't get it to stop smoking! I think i have a bad injector! There's no fire"..

They turn around, get in fire truck and leave... needless to say i never got to make any more runs that day..http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

Lesson learned- be the first to get on the dyno in KALIFORNIA or the tree huggers might spoil your day!

Unfortunately I was not as lucky as you this week. Got the ol' "Fast Driver Award" in a company vehicle on the way to a customer's site.

The old story... Machines broke, production line stopped, people getting pi$$ed.

Of course, none of those people offered to pay the fine. hahahaha Always works that way.

Bottom line is that I should have known better. I was daydreaming (about what lay ahead for me in the plant) in a 55MPH zone and blew right past a state trooper. He had the gumball machine on and was turning in the median before I ever came out of my daze and saw him. Oh well. Didn't want those truck upgrades this month anyway. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif
