OK:
I am 95% sold on the need for secondary fuel filtration. I plan to be buried with this truck...so it DOES need to last a while..!! :ro)But prior to purchasing/installing, I'd like to hear from those of you that have these secondary fuel systems installed, and ask what your experiences have been to date: Kindly state how long you have had it in and what you have found is the effect on OEM filter/filter life, injectors, possible effect on mpg, how often you change the Cat filters and anything else worth mentioning.
Also, due to the extra filtration I'd be curious if you found any problems associated with getting fuel to the motor.
Thank you,
stk

I have had the filter kit installed on my 04 2500HD LLY CCSB for almost 2 years. We run home made B-100 and dry our fuel in the open so filtration is important to us. Let me get back to the bio later.
The only effect I have noticed on the OEM filter is that it is so clean.
I have personally noticed no effect on MPG.
I try to change the CAT filter at about 15k. I ve been running the filter since about 40k and were at 83k now.
I think the filter setup is very good. I have the one on my 04 and I am waiting for a long bed version to be avaliable for my 07. I am also using a filter head only and filter to filter the fuel once before the bio goes into our storage tank. Our bio diesel gets filterd 4 times before it hits the injectors. Particulate strainer, nicktane, nicktane, OEM.

verrrry Kewl. B100 eh.? that too is totally kewl.
I am a HUGE fan of alternate energy sources. And I love to hear someone using 100% bio. wow...are you making it yourself.?
I have a buddy (off topic), that has: 4 acres south of Calgary, 1 X 3kw and 2 X 1kw wind trubines + 1500 Kw Solar array. Nice inverter + large water tank insulated for excess power and when i saw that I damned neer drooled.!!
ok self rant is over. Appreciate the response. I'm at about 97.5% now.! Just need to drum uyp some cashola and order one...I do notice he is Back ordered on em.
BTW: you'll be happy to know we just had 10" of that freakin white stuff this AM with 0 degree temps...it should be normally around 75-80 here. Go figure.

I bought a used 02 with 21,015 miles. Did some looking and ran accross the nicktane and read everything. Sounded like a good idea to install. The model for my truck was out of stock so it was several thousand miles before it came in (installed about 24,500 miles). Installed it and had the truck running in about an hour. Be sure to get the set of quick-contnector release tools to take the original hoses loose, they work like a charm! The whole system went on like a breeze.
One thread on this site talked about cutting the filters open to check how they looked inside. I have done that at 30,000, 40,000, and 50,000 miles.
At 30,000 miles I changed both fuel filters. The OEM was almost black on the sides where the fuel comes through the 2 sets of holes in the plastic head. The nicktane only had maybe 6,000 miles at that point and really didn't show much.
At 40,000, I cut open the OEM filter and it looked almost new! I couldn't see hardly any color change over the whole media body. That nicktane filter really works. It was very dark over the whole filter.
I'm going to change the nicktane every 10,000 and the OEM every 20,000. At least that is my plan. I'll continue to check the media and if the OEM looks bad at 60,000, I may change it at 15,000.
I am very please with the nicktane! I found a local truck dealer that carries baldwin filters and they save me almost half the price as auto zone and a little more than that over the dealers cost. Inside they look the same.
Best nsurance you can buy for a truck that needs to last, just do it, you won't be sorry. Fuel delivery is not an issue. Fill the filter wth fuel and you won't have to bleed the system.

I fill the filter with fuel...but still have to prime it...not as much as when the filter is empty.
I had mine on since ~36,000 right after I had the injectors done...No change in MPG, no problems with injectors since, and I change the OE and CAT filters @ 10K...coinsides with my oil filter regemin.
