My dealer neglected to include one of the manuals with my Snapon MT2500 and it will be a week or so before I can get the manual from him. He included the ^%$%$#@ import books but not the GM reference book.

What "KEY" is needed for the OBDII adaptor?

GM key fits in the adapter, different keys for different models of vehicle

K-15
K-16
K-18
K-19
K-21

You dont need to know which key because when you input the veh information, the scanner will tell you which key you need to install, I input the data while holding the little rectangular key down, this runs the scanner off the internal 9V battery, so the scanner does not need to be hooked to the veh, and after you instal the proper key and plug it into the veh the previous inputed data is saved, just hit "yes" and your off to the races
I'll check but I've only got like 5 keys and they seem to fit everything I've ever scanned, me thinks you bought more keys than you need, at least it looks like you have "likely" all of them

The internal battery was dead when I went to use it so I couldn't use the internal set up.

The scanner was a trade in with carts for domestic and import and was supposed to include all the manuals, keys, adaptors, etc. The scanner was on his second truck and I've got a feeling it got spilled in transfer since the baggie with the keys showed up the following week.

I believe as well you can have the wrong key in there, while using Veh power, and it will still promp you with the proper key to use......
wait a couple of mins I'll go check
...........I'll be right back

....I'm back
Just tried it with NO key installed, and inputed the veh data, it then prompted me with the proper key to use.

I tried it on my dodge as I no longer own a Chev, (tear, sniff) then I just picked a random veh and vin and it prompted me to use the key for that veh configuration even though I was not plugged into the "fictional" veh that was inputted. it only uses the obdII port to power the scanner
