I have a 1999 Powerstroke. Just had dealer replace IDM. Now when I start the truck up cold it smokes white & smells really rich when cold start. Runs great wth no smoke as soon as you get it on the road. Any Ideas to look at??

I would not be to concerned as long as it clears up in a minute or so and is white. Mine chugs white for a little while on ever start up and will make your eyes burn if by the pipe.

The smoke is just the engine trying to heat up.


It's some unburt fuel b/c the cylinder temp is not hot enough to burn all the fuelhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif


Mine does it and I live in Tempe,Az( on cold mornings)
