: LBZ Theft recovery truck
oddplanes 05-22-2007, 05:09 AM .Just bought an '06 LBZ ex cab sb theft recovery out of WA state.
Is there any way to pull the miles from the ECM since the DIC is gone? Or is it recorded in the cluster? Insurance paperwork says 11K, but ???
It is a pretty much complete powertrain, but the interior is GONE. All of it. As are the doors, glass, bumpers, bed, steering wheel, and most of the front clip. cab shell is pretty nice, Doesn't look like they wanted engine/trans parts at all. :D
Now, If I could just find the company that was making the replacement 67-72 Chevy cabs with the extended cab option...
srode 05-22-2007, 08:10 PM Sell the cab, buy a suburban body for it - nice project!
WanaDmxsub 05-22-2007, 10:41 PM I've heard one of the diesel techs (Eric?) on this forum say that he has seen it. Mileage that is...
When you get your truck could you do me a big favor...The '06's have shoulder belts for rear center passenger. That belt loops through a brace..or something, mounted to the back of the cab. If you could get me pic of that I would really appreciate it.
DURAtotheMAX 05-23-2007, 12:14 AM Im almost 100% sure mileage is ONLY stored in the cluster. Ive heard everyone say the dealer can dig it up blah blah blah...Ive done all the digging you can possibly do with a Tech 2, and from what I can see its not anywhere but the cluster. ;)

oddplanes 05-23-2007, 01:40 PM I have a Tech 2, and I could't find anything... Just hoping there is something more... The chassis still looks new, somebody sprayed it with a Waxoyl or ziebart looking stuff for rustproofing/undercoating.
I can take a pic of the brace, or even send it to you if it comes off, I will PM you.
I decided to shorten the frame and put a 1968 Chevy short bed fleetside body on it for a daily driver... A lot of work, but I think it will be worth it.
Dave588 05-23-2007, 04:14 PM Dynacorn has 47-54 regular cabs.

If you find one, I'd like to check out any company doing 68-72 bodies.
WanaDmxsub 05-23-2007, 10:25 PM Just incase you haven't seen this.
Tech II paths (http://service.gm.com/userguides/english/t2paths-en.pdf) It's a *.PDF. Try Odometer and Mileage.
Thanks

The dynacorn stuff is nice, but there was a co. in Texas that was both rebuilding cabs and making extended cabs out of them... Wish I could find them... I found a 68 shortbed in Kansas that just had an extensive body restoration for 9K less engine/trans. That should be my donor body.

Thank you, I hadn't seen that and I will really use it, but I get nothing with no cluster. It won't display anything.
hood72 05-26-2007, 12:27 AM Well on my 98 gmc 2500 the odometer kept going out and I would have to press on the dash for it to light up. Well when I had a tire blow up it did alot of damage and the dealer told me they would have to send it to Houston (from San Antonio) to get fixed. The shop manager took me to the side and told me to just go to a "pick-and-pull" and get a cluster from them. Well I did and it kept showing the milage from the donor truck, I have also seen clusters on sale on Ebay and they will put whatever milage you want/need on it. Well also my 2007 classic had the 1 year of onstar and it will email me milage and let me know if any maintenance is needed, that may be another avenue see what onstar says, although it may just report what the cluster says.
Warlock1 05-26-2007, 11:37 AM Oh yeah if you could find the early 70's cab and do an extended or even better a crew cab conversion that would be crazy. I've always loved those trucks. I see them all the time around here. Hell the other day I saw a Gremlin with no rust.
83gmck2500 05-27-2007, 03:25 AM If I remember right, this company: http://main.altonco.com/ did the old school 60-66 GM crewcabs back in the day for the railroad and utility companies. I don't see very many around, but once in a great while I do.
oddplanes 05-31-2007, 04:11 PM Thanks for the onstar idea. They were able to tell me mileage from the last known keystart. 12,533.
It really wasn't a big issue, but now I know about where to start the new one.
