: Thinking of purchasing 05 duramax.
J.Buesking 05-21-2007, 11:30 PM I've currently got a 01 2500hd with the gas 8.1 liter. I've lifted it 6" and put 35" tires on it and gas is killing me. Currently getting around 7mpg but it's a great truck. I pull about 4-5000lbs almost all the time for work purposes.
I've found the truck I want and it an 05 duramax fully loaded. Heated seats, moon roof, leather, 6-disc changer etc. It's only got 33,000 miles on it and they want 34k for it.
Thing im leary about is it comes with the banks six-gun chip and exhaust. A few other things I like but Im not sure about buying a truck with this stuff on it already. Does this void the warranty on the motor? Do you think the price is fair?
Im defently getting a diesel truck and want to stay with a silverado.
For those that might care here is a link to the dealer ship. Im looking at the white 2005 duramax.

Thanks and im looking forward to joining the diesel community.
Breadburner 05-21-2007, 11:35 PM I think the price is about 4 to 6 thousand to high.....
dieselbadgie 05-21-2007, 11:38 PM The price is way to high, should be 29k max. Also the way GM is, you may have warrenty issues.
Breadburner 05-21-2007, 11:39 PM Look at this one........http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-Chevy-Silverado-K2500HD-Duramax-SS_W0QQitemZ120120238729QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item12 0120238729

The original truck in question is at a good price. That was a $45,000 truck 2 years ago.... Vin : 1gchk23275f911498

dieselbadgie 05-21-2007, 11:50 PM That one on Ebay is worth much less! It has a salvage title so it may not be worth 20k.
NelsonDiesel 05-21-2007, 11:54 PM sorry it came out all smooshed together... but it's been in for work a few times... nothing to be worried about except the last time... concern not duplicated.. wonder what it was?
Breadburner 05-21-2007, 11:55 PM I think that could be a mistake.....
NelsonDiesel 05-22-2007, 12:00 AM I think that could be a mistake.....
if it is then they should get that fixed... quick.... if it is in fact a salvage title then it is worth like 20k...
J.Buesking 05-22-2007, 12:04 AM Thanks for the quick replies. I don't like that truck on ebay. It's kinda ugly imo.
Thanks for that info captain diesel. This truck is in great condition and doesnt appear abused. I can probably get them to drop the price a couple thousand because I was supposed to sign papers on friday but I put them off. There calling me saying they still have it and are ready to deal. Before I called them back I wanted to do some research.
Breadburner 05-22-2007, 12:28 AM I just wanted you to get an idea of the value....Just used that truck as an example........
swatkins 05-22-2007, 12:43 AM Two years ago I bought my fully loaded Dually for only 36,000... brand new... I would really want them to take at least 4,000 off the price...
banshee42096 05-22-2007, 07:35 AM the price is high also if your buying it from a dealer you might get away with warranty work seeing you bought it there with the mods on it?
FloridaZ 05-22-2007, 12:42 PM For that price I would get an 06 or 07 Classic. Nothing wrong with the 05's, that's just too much to pay.
whatthedeucetx8 05-22-2007, 02:10 PM if you would like to saaaave a ton of money, cost you a plane ticket to tx but well worth it check out www.greenvillepontiac.com they have an 06 gmc with 30 k on the ticker and everyhint esle the other has for 32k
Cruiserjake 05-22-2007, 04:56 PM Just so you all know, a salvage tittle is worth (to the banks) 80% of KBB. You also need to know what the damage was. If it is a motor burn (like mine was) or if it was hit hard with a new frame. This makes a difference. My 05 has a new motor and used interior, and I payed 70% of KBB. The truck has no problems, just all new sheet metal on front end, new motor and paint. 34 thousand for an 05 is an OK price, but could get a dealer down a couple three K i'm sure.
way_out_there 05-22-2007, 05:14 PM I paid 28K for a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLE1, 4X4, CC/SB, D/A, with 12,800 miles this past winter. California truck, it was immaculate. The truck you are looking at has more miles, but also has about 3K more in options from what I bought. Considering the new body style is out, and it is 3 model years old, you should be getting in this for under 30K. I think 28.5 to 29K tops.

I will sell you an '05 LT GMC CC 4x4 with everything other than sunroof and DVD .... and only 24k miles for that price (or less)
It has been hot ... and documented by GM.
Buy a V2 from the man and you will be good to go.
J.Buesking 05-22-2007, 10:13 PM Thanks for the reply's. Im going to keep looking around. If I can't find a better deal I'll go back and try to heckle them down some more.
I think trucks are cheaper in other places than kentucky. There's more of a demand for them here. I've noticed there alot cheaper in texas it seems.
