I have been looking at buying a duramax truck. I have read some good info regarding the stuff to look for. I have noticed the '01's have some injector problems, does this apply to other year models too? Also GM has extended the warranty on them to 200K, is this unlimted years?

I have found an '01 with 70K on it. I requested a vin check. It appears to be in decent condition. I could not find any aftermarket performance parts on it. Is there anyway to tell is the ECM has the stock calibration on it?

Thanks for responses to the newbie questions.

The injector problem is for all of the LB7 engines (01-04.5). The 01-03 trucks have a 7yr/200k injector warranty.

You may want to keep in mind that the 01 are nearly out of warranty, with respect to the injectors , which DIRTYMAX mentioned above. If the truck has any sort of records, as far as being well maintaned, it should be a good truck. Please keep in mind though that these are big trucks with big motors and as a consequence come with big repair bills when they go down. 70,000 miles is bearly broke in for this engine but is well out of the drive train warranty.

Good luck

It would be great if the warranty was good to 200k and no age limit. It looks like it is a matter of if they are going to fail, it is when are they. I am assuming the '04 models and newer haven't had this problem.

Thanks for the info

I thought that they are 100k?

no 7 yr 200k on the injectors, special policy, there is a bulletin number somewhere on this site.
