Please tell me it is not the injectors. Tell me I am paraoid about the injectors. The noises and smell came on all at once while pulling my car to the track. I had just filled up with some fine $1.99http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.gif fuel when I noticed the smell. I thought it was on my hands from the nasty pump where I get my fuel. Driving home after the race I noticed at half throttle and more the engine had a different knock to it other than the normal sounds. I have driven for a week and run a tank of fuel through and still the same thing. I just don't want to take it to a dealer and have him tell me don't worry about it, they all do that. Also, if I do take it to a dealer, will my straight pipe void my warranty? What about the 285 tires? What about the K&N filter? I have two friends that work at the Chevrolet dealer that know my truck well, but that is not to say that it will help me when the service writer notices the mods. They say they think it is just me, but also say they don't want to be the ones to change the injectors out!

check for fuel in the oil, At least remove the K+N before a trip to the dealer. They may try to side track you on a MAF problem with the K+N.

Yes the oil level has risen by about a quart and a half. Now the knock is anything above 1200 RPM. I will remove the K&N and probably put the muffler back on, but all of the techs at the dealer know that the truck has a pipe on it. I am racing in Memphis this weekend (about 200 miles one way) and have to use my truck. I am going to change the oil before I go and check it when I get there. If it has fuel in it then, I will change it before I head back too.

You know what fuel in the oil probably means. Try to borrow a truck.
