Does anyone know if a Century topper from an 88-98 body style fit and look ok on a 2005 Silverado. Both being shorties. Any help is appreciated.

I remember seeing a post here about the angle of your truck's rear window won't match the angle of the front edge of the cap. It will "fit" & be functional, but I don't think you'll like the looks of it.

not the same width

Will it be close? Are we talking less than an inch? I may be getting this topper for next to nothing due to a 1997 Chevrolet 1500 Ex-cab being sold and the guy buying it is not interested in the topper. I know the reg cabs of that series is straight up and down and the extended cabs are slightly angled, I am not sure on the angle compared to a new CC...I need to see what this guy is selling it for and taking it by a dealership or throw a measuring stick at it.. any way, thanks for help!!

For anyone who is interested, I measured an 05 by myself to find the bed of the truck to be 71" wide at the front, 68" wide at the rear and 81" long. I measured rail cap to rail cap and the very front of the bed to the very back of the bed. The cab is about 21 inches above the bed. On a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 extended cab short bed with 2 people measuring using more tools that just a tape measure, we found the front of the bed to be 70 1/2" wide, at the back it was 67 5/8" wide and 81" long and the cab was 21" above the bed right at the drivers door. We negotioated a good price and I made the decision to go ahead and buy this topper.

there is a reason leer makes a cap just for the crew cab. When I was buying and browsing I had the dealer put on a cap for an extended cab and the space between the windows was TERRIBLE. the cap made just for the Crew Cab follws the angle beautifully and it looks really good!!!

I had a 88-98 cap on my 99. It didn't fit quite right and eventually cracked due to lack of support on the bed rail. The bed rails on the 99 were just a little longer and a little wider. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gif

Well, according to the measurements, the bed at the front will be .25" wider per side and 0.1875" wider at the rear per side. The length measured same and the topper was slightly wider on the 1995 1500 so it seems like it will almost fit nicely. The angles "eyeball" to be close, but may be off a bit. I guess we will just have to wait and see what it looks like when it is on. It just may be a disaster, but I posted this topic 11 days ago asking for the informtion I did not receive until today, the day after the purchase. So I will just have to live with the decisions made. This is a poor little topper that no one wants and the price is great for the quality of the topper. If the crew cab has a 95 degree angle with the bed and the 95 extended cab has a 97 degree angle, I can live with thay until I fall into $1600 to buy a new ARE Z series. I will be sure to update once it is installed for anyone who is interested.

Update: Went and tried to pick up the topper and everything was looking good, length, width was excellent. The cab hight was a little taller by a couple inches, but for the price of it, it would be ok. Everything was looking good until we tried to close the back glass. The new truck tailgates a slightly curved out compared to the 88-98 tailgates which are straight. So I passed on this deal. It looks like they won't work after all. I guess it is time to start saving pennies to get a new ARE Z series. Just may be worth it in the run.
