yeah someone screwed up ..........probably didn't tighten the return fuel rails down, either at each injector or at the head passthrough.

i haven't seen or heard of a veh having injector leaking problems after the new replacements......

the may have used the old injectors........the new style injectors are package in a box of 4. the old ones are individualy boxed.

They were the new ones and every one has there bad days as long as the new style injectors are not the problem. Thanks and I will pass on to boss so he will be relieved.

Sorry no screw up this time it is the pump. This is the second pump it has lost. First at 70k and now at 176k. They can't blame it on anything they say it's just one of them things. We will have the old pump that comes off as it was probably a rebuilt as all the other stuff that is replaced under warranty. Got any Ideas why we are having this problem. The 03 we have is maint free so far and it is getting close to the 100k mark.

the pump can't leak diesel into the crankcase.........you did say the crankcase had diesel in it. The pump isn't the problem if you had fuel in the crankcase.......the dealership or the tech is covering his ass for a screw up. he files a claim for the pump but actually fixes his screw up ......It's called flat rating aka fraud. the fraud is toward GM not you. I wouldn't trust that dealership...

I remember a long ago expert told us the same thing. The pump can't leak into the crankcase.

Geno said it did and it has already been shown previously that a bad seal will in fact leak fuel into the crankcase.

Just trying to keep the facts straight.

I work on these engines every day...........

THERE IS NO WAY....fuel can get into the crankcase from a bad pump

and where is this magical seal that allows this to happen?

front seal on the pump leaks. I have replaced 3 of them for the issue. Went round and round on my first pump seal failure. added dye in the tank,Ran vehicle 25 min. removed the oil filler tube and you can look into and see the pump gear. oil dye everwhere. sound nut but it has happened.
most case you see the new injectors not leak but a lose return fitting.
Watch out they may bill you to remove the pump and due so at the same time run a clame b warranty an open the valve covere to check the return fittings. seen this to on some shotty work....Not trying to prove Wordclass wrong but I have seen the pump seal leak not sure how something inside must come apart and the fuel work its way to the seal. I would say it was not a huge leak.
took time to fill the crankcase.

Tech

One thing for sure I am also a mech of 30 years plus BUT I am not up on the D-Max and this is the reason I am here (to learn). I will be at the dealer In the morning and make them show me this seal. I have printed this and will keep it hid till the conservation is over before I spring it on them if it is ok with you.

I gotta go with Patrick on this... Front seal leaks and viola! Not very common problem but.....

I didnt think the reluctor ring falling off the crankshaft is common either....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif
