I've got a buddy that has an 03' GMC that he is putting a HJ/AT on and is worrying about slipping. Are there any upgrades available other than buying the whole kit from ATS? Is there anything you can do to help prevent slipage, other than not run it on 4 and 5. He's really not looking to buy a kit right now, but its comming in the near future, so we were wondering if there is anything we can do that may help it for now. Thank you.

He's right to be worried about a Hot Juice on a stock tranny...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley24.gif

Keep it out of the higher power levels, don't be doing any power braking to up the launch boost, and start saving for an upgrade to the trans.

Both ATS and Suncoast make kits for various power levels, at a minimum most here seem to suggest a TransGo shift kit, but since you've got to pull the trans to put that in, you might as well get a better converter at the same time.

It's probably going to be cheaper to upgrade the trans before he hurts it than it will be after he starts slipping things. Some folks here have run the HJ without much problem regarding the trans, but they are the exception rather than the rule.

When you look at the Trans-go on TTS page, it shows the price for the shift kit, and also for the seperate clutch packs themselves. What exactly does the shift kit actually come with? Is the shirt kit even worth it if you dont use the torque converter? What kinda power can you put down through the trans-go before it starts acting up? If we were to go with the transgo for now, what should we go with, just the shift kit, or all the goodies?

Put a converter in while you are putting the shift kit. On a lb7 anything much over a 90hp juice is playing with fire with the ally. When you say hot do you mean the 125 hp version or the big one? A 125hp juice is borderline and the juice will be pulling out power on a stock ally in 5th gear. An actaul hot juice.....fugetaboutit, it will smoke stuff in no time. If he knows he wants to play hard have him look into a suncoast or ats trans. A transgo kit and a converter would probably hold the hot juice but I dont know how well it would like boosted launches???

suncoastconverters.com IIRC or click on ats's little banner when it pops up. I like my suncoast level 3 so far.

A shift kit isnt really worth it if you arnt doing a converter IMO. The shift kit comes with a few valves, a couple springs, some gaskets, and some drill bits and directions on what to drill out. Oh yeah.....a key chain too. Joe at suncoast really needs to stop being cheap and include one of those in his kits. The light up keychain is a big deal, adds close to 12 hp to the rears I hear. I did get a turnip in my kit though...duno how much that added though?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

Is the Regular Juice with an attitude = 125 hp?

and the Hot labeled OJ with the Attitude = the 'Big One'?

My truck with transgo kit and stock clutches and stock converter has been heavily abused. The trans still holds very solid with just the kit, the converter slips on the dyno, cant notice it as much on the street. But, if your pulling it for the kit, do a converter as well. Youll regret it later.. I dont have to pay to pull the trans or lay on my back, so doing my converter later was not a big deal to me. Add in the clutches and a cut back valve and you got a 'el of a trans.

Its the HOT juice. I've heard in been called Hot juice, and the Comp Juice. Its the bigger one that Egde offers. So all in all, with it on 5, the tranny's not goin to hold for too long? Mise well skip the shift kit, and get the real deal? DmaxallTtech, what kinda price are we looking at for your services, we're willing to make the drive for good work. Heard a lot of good things about you, and would like to have it done right. PM me with the details. If we get the kit, how much would install cost with the full ATS and co-piolet? Thanks Edited by: 6.2 Blazer

The transgo shift kit is a part of the suncoast kit.

Try a search on transgo vrs ats, there is quite a bit on it. Lotsa oppinions. May help you decide witch kit is really best for your bud. Unless he has already decided?

We got the HJ/*** in Friday night and the tranny's not liking it. We started out on the test drive in level 4(Race) and it was acting up pretty good. Figured it would just take a little bit for the tranny to learn the new programer. It started acting a little better so we figured we would see what level 5(extreme) was like. The tranny limped in about 5 mins. Doesnt like level 5 at all. So we ran it in level 3 for the rest of the evening. It seems to be doing fine now in level 3. Love the HJ and the attitude is nice. How accuarte are the readings for like tranny slip, and stuff on the attitude? Tranny upgrade is a must. It'll be in the near future. Think he wants to go with the full ATS with Co-piolet. HP is very addicting!!! Thanks for the info guys!

trans slip is just looking at the converter. if its in lock up you want to see 0. if not it can be prtty high. a blip to .6% is normal and every body gets it, its just the accuracy
