I would like to know if I have made a mistake. The dealer I have my Dmax/Alli serviced at has been waiting 6 months for the couplers for the T-Tech transmission flush machine. After weekly calls for 6 weeks, they got tired of me calling and I got tired of calling them only to get them same answer: "They say the couplers will be in in a week two". I've got 52K miles, pull a 9500# trailer 2 or 3 weekends a month and only the fluid in the pan was changed the first time at 25K miles. I have seen the procedure to change the fluid myself, by I don't have the time or a second person to help (my wife is mechanically challenged). I've been using regular Dexron III ATF, not transynd.


I went to a quick lube place that had the T-Tech flush machine. They didn't know how to clean the screen. They didn't have a gasket for the pan, so they used the flush machine to flush all the fluid (they did use 28 quarts to flush the entire system).


Question is: is it a problem that they did not clean the screen? Should I drop the pan and clean the screen myself? How dirty will it get in 25K miles? Or should I just wait and have it done at the next 25K change?

There is NO screen to clean but a sump pick up to change. Allison recommends it be serviced (changed) only at rebuild.


I wouldn't bother the spin on and magnet collects the debris.

gasket is reusuable and internal filter need to be changed. pull the drain plug and drain remove pan. its easy.

Mackin and Patrick are in direct conflict with their answers, WTF?

according to Allison, the internal filter does not need servicing. According to good practice, its wise to change it, but in reality, the spin should catch anything.

I think for the $23 and labor its good to change. I see alot of guys ask around the 50k range. Spin on is super cheep and most guys due that themselves.
