I have two p/s diesels,a 99 and a 01. I now have the same problem with both of them. After sitting overnight the high pressure oil reservoir needs to be filled with oil for the engine to start. Once running the engine misses, then runs fine after a mile or two down the road. The 99 has done it for over a year now,the 01 just started and is missing longer after it does start. Ford replaced reservoir, check ball,spring,o-ring but it did not help. Help...

where is the oil going? it has to be a o-ring trouble if oil level is dropping.

The oil is draining back into the engine, from the high pressure reservoir after sitting overnight. I had this little steel ball,spring,o-ring,and a plug with a stem replaced recently. These parts went on the front top of the engine, that was suppose to be the problem, i was told, but it wasn't. The entire reservoir was replaced on the 99 truck, but made no difference. The guy's at the local ford dealer just dont know what to tell me about how to fix it. Thanks for the reply.
