: "Tuna Can" question

I was wondering if I can replace the crankcase pressure evacuator, ("Tuna Can") which is a closed system, with just a K&N breather filter?

Does there absolutly have to be a vacuum in the crankcase or is it more for emission reasons and just a staight breather would be fine?

The reason I'm asking is because that I'm possibly fabricating velosity stacks and there wounld be no way really to tie it into them and have it work properly or look good.

Yah, I've read that a while a go and understand how it works. In good detail too. But will it harm the engine in any way if I get rid of it and run a K&N breather?

I think it was sort of mentioned in that post but not much info either way, good or bad.

You may want to try running it first around the block without the air
filter housing on it. If you have ever done that you will know the
resonate freqeuncy you get from intake noise will drive you out of the
truck. It will probably be the same or worse with velocity type stacks.
I used tor un an open element air cleaner and it was so loud in the
truck no one would ride with me, on top of the fact you could feel the
windsheild throbbing back and forth going down the road.
