Just seeing what others are doing to launch their trucks equipped with green keys.. I have to strap the front end down now, and the ET and consistancy have changed (a couple tenths in the quarter-consistancy has suffered)....

You should be able to lower a green keyed truck as far down as a factory truck right? Timbrens will mess up your day thoguh

have you tried launching with the t-bars turned all the way down with the green keys?

Assuming that the green key only has the hex "indexed" differently, they will not lay down as well as the OE units. The half moon threaded adjusting block is the downtravel limiter so unless the green keys have increased downtravel in their lobes, you'll end up "x" degrees higher that the OE units whan adjusted down.

I've tried actually even taking the bolts completely out.. Still doesn't launch... Tomac showed me how to strap it, though racing wise the truck has taken a step backwords.. I guess it comes down to performance or looks.. I think I'd go for performance next time...

Been there, done that. You can't get the front low enough with green keys for stable high boost launches. Nick got real squemish watching me do a couple at Sac Raceway earlier this summer; part was not having a strong centerlink, part was me hopping all over the place for the first 30 feet...

I put stock keys back in, adjust'em down for the track and back up where you want them the rest of the time. The stockers won't go quite as high, but you can get 1.5 inches or so, which will get you close...

BTW, I do have a slightly used set of green keys just laying in my garage...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

Hey Doug.. I was hoping there was something I could do to keep them.. I guess I'm just outa luck.. I'm considering just buying another dmax to play with.. If I do, I'll have to trade in the Z06... Just been playing with the ideas.. Don't know if a 2wd or 4wd would be best.. 60' would go to the 4x4, though less power loss would go to the 2wd... Hmmmm....

Morse,

Buying another Dmax is a pretty extreme solution for the problem with green keys.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif But heck, I'll sell you another set of keys for say, half the cost a new truck.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

So when you install the green keys, are you limited to being higher stock than you are with the regular keys installed? I would think you would be higher than stock to start with..http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

Yes. The increased index of the green keys causes the truck to sit higher (about an inch in my case) even when the bolts are all the way out.

I'm just ready to start fresh.. Going to the dealership this weekend to see what they can get.. The excitement of the corvette thing is over.. I'm much more into diesels than cars... I'm gonna check on trading in the cummins I bought a few months ago towards it as well.. The cummins was gonna be my "true" racing effort.. The 12 valve is cheap to make run high 13's to low 14's, but after that it gets expensive.. I think I'll make a post on here of which is the best race effort (a 4wd or a 2wd).. Duramax of course..
