does my truck have one? i got out of my buddies powerstroke, and it did something and it kept running. i thought he had added a remote start that would let the truck keep running, he said it was a turbo timer and that my truck has one too. does it? what is it for?

Your truck doesn't have one unless you add it. All it does is let your truck idle for a few mins before shutting down - purpose being to cool the exhaust temp so the oil in the turbo doesn't cook and wreck your turbo bearings

You can kill two birds with one stone by adding a remote start. The AstroStart not only allows you to start your vehicle remotely, you can also let it run after a long run and it will shut off automatically.

PM MaxPower for details - he handles them and is a great guy to deal with.

I have one mine is from SP diesel. It has a 1,2,3,4,and 5 minute setting then it has a "convience" mode where it will run up to an hour so u can run in the store and leave the truck running but take ur keys and lock it up. If anyone would try and steal it as soon as u touch the brake it shuts off. I like it.

Save your money if you're just after a turbo timer. It usually just takes a mere 30 seconds of idling to properly cool the turbo.

Why not Kill 3 birds with 1 stone and buy an Edge / Juice programmer. It comes with a Turbo Timer, EGT Gauge and you can add power on the fly!

Thats what I have with my truck, I can set it up to shut down either in mins or by temp.

When I use that feature all hell breaks loose. I get codes that have to clear at startup and I regularly get the "shift range inhibited" message. Seems if I put the truck into gear while the codes are clearing it gives that message.
