hey fellas,
well i'm now officially a duramax owner, i just took delivery of my 02 gmc reg. cab long bed 4x4 dmax 6 SPEED last wednesday, and i love it, it has a k and n full intake and i just got an edge hot juice with attitude and my clutch sticks on level 2 which i believe is only like 60 horse power, i've heard these clutches can handle around 90 extra horse so why is it sticking. the guy that owneed it before me had a reg edge juice so he might have done some damage to the clutch but driving the truck stock the clutch feels fine and strong. so again, why the sticking. also the first time i turned my edge on 5, ( just a quick run to see what it had) my turbo barked abit, why did it do that and how can i keep from doing it again cus i'm sure its not good. also, the boost level on my edge is set on like 21 or 22 peak boost, is that about how much it should take or what is a safe psi to have the peak set before the alert starts sounding? i dont plan on pulling this truck and prolly wont ever take it to the drag strip but i want to be able to take full advantage of those 150 extra horses on a mustang or something without breakign anything so any suggestions on what clutch/flywheel i figure by readin gon hear my truck has around 425 rear wheel horse(maybe) so a good solid daily driving clutch that can hold around 500 rear wheel ponies would be ideal ( want to save alil room, cus i hear power is addicting:P) anyway sorry for the long post i'm just kinda new to it al and dont want break aything, thanks in advance

I can make mine slip on level 1 with a reg edge. looks like you need a south bend clutch set-up. single should fill the bill.

I don't know how you got the turbo to bark? I never have herd my turbo bark.
Yeah, the other owner probably did some damage to the clutch. With edge on five you should see 26 psi. Most people say safe boost is 29-30 psi. My truck did 424rwhp with the Hot juice. My clutch is a single and holds 474rwhp with no problem.

what kind of clutch did you get and how much did it cost? would you be comfortable holding 500 rwhp with your clutch, dont know if i'll ever hit that kinda power but just a reassurance thing. thanks for the replies fellas.

Only two acts in town for clutch/flywheel options. Three if you include LUK...

South Bend or Mac's. Both seem to have excellent reliability. I have a South Bend DDC, and I am happy with it.

At present, my truck is stock, and the DDC is fine to drive. I can't wait to turn it up. Lots of info in the two ZF forums.

For sure the clutch/flywheel has been heated up and damaged especially if the previous owner was running the edge. It could be one of those rare truck with the original DMF...:rotflmao: doubtful but you never know. Hopefully it is not still running the original...if so it is definitely time to get rid of the OEM junk.
For sure the SBC SMF/Single or Dual set-up will work great for you. More than capable of holding north or 500rwhp. For information on which set-up will work best for you go to www.dynadroitclutches.com

Its a Macs clutch with a billet steel flywheel. I think I paid around $1,700 for the set-up, and I can upgrade to the twin disc for cheap. Yeah I would feel comfortable with it holding 500 rwhp. I would worry more about bending rods at over 500rwhp then the clutch.
