Whichever one you can find cheapest. All fuel filters (excepting those in aftermarket secondary filtration systems) for the Duramax are made by Racor. Other brands are just repackaged Racor filters.

Here's the one I run. My motor requires a lot of fuel at times. This filter is about 1 1/2 inch longer than the standard filter. It has no fitment issues. It is a 2 micron with good flow characteristics. I have never had any flow problems, although I change them every 500 miles or so. It is suppose to have a special water filter media.
The part number is "PFF5544".

Every 500 miles  ....I would change mine everyday...btw I think you ment to say 5k miles on change. I never heard of them, always let the dealer change mine with oem or if I changed it I used a wix filter.

500 miles is correct. I drive my Modded truck very little on the street. It see's mostly short trips (300 feet and 1320 feet). New injectors are around $2,500 plus Nozzels $1,000. I change a lot of 20 dollar filters.
My daily driver gets a new one with every oil change. 3,000 miles.
This is probably a little excessive, but I buy the filters by the case and pay a little under 20 bucks at the local Racor distrib.

I will need to check these out, Wix is common here. I will check and see about them, I know about injectors issues so I installed the Nicktane on mine. Thanks for the info

Ok thanks, I am having a MPG issue, and I think its the fuel filter. Im getting roughly 13 mpg city compaired to how I should get 15 at least and I have magnaflow exhuast and superchip etc. so I know somethings wrong with this picutre. I just bought this truck as a mess around truck its a 04 with 76k miles on it, so I would not think it would be a injector issue. The sticker says it needs to serviced in roughly 1k miles.

I work at a truck dealership, class eight, and will be buying a new truck in august the first modification I plan to do is the instalation of a Davco 232. That is the very best primary filter period. They use them on the 6.7's. On the larger stuff they use the 323, at one time Detriot would double the injector warrenty on a 60 series if one was installedas a factory installed option, they use a cartridge, that you can buy at any truck or engine deallership, you only change them when they are dirty no guessing. Unless you install a Vacume guage in the primary filter outlet and moniter it on a Racor you are changing it by guessing.
