Anyone familar with the CAT 330 diesel motor? My parents just picked up a used ('04) Tiffan Motorhome with this in the back and looking to possibly bump up the power on it. Anything we should pay attention too?

Probably a C7 or C10 engine. Ts-performance might have something for it.

It will be a 3126 HEUI (hydraulic over electronic unit injectors) uses engine oil under high pressure, to inject fuel. No cam followers, or push tubes. Overall, a great engine, I cannot stress the importance of clean oil, kept at the proper level on this engine. Depending on conditions, MPG's should be 10-13.5. Edge used to make a plug in module for this engine, but if you have warranty, don't chance it, Catepillar won't warranty it. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. TS performance does have a plug and play unit that can be removed if necessary that gives it a 30% boost in power at the highest setting. Apparently the MH gets anywhere from 7-8 now on the mileage. I'll make sure to tell him about keeping the oil clean. He usually changes it early in his other vehicles so I doubt he'll do anything different with this.

Better be careful, I have heard bad things about the 3126 with high horsepower output.

What have you heard? The unit from TS Performance only bumps up the horsepower by 100 ponies. I didn't think that was a big jump but it should definitely be noticeable.

A friend who is into offshore boats told me that a yacht company built 100 boats that each had two of them. They ran them at the 350 hp level, which CAT approved. They had 95% of them blow up under warranty. The engine seems to hold up quite well at lower power levels.
