Just thought I pass on some info after my first trip to the dealer for a list of items including the leather seat--driver side--cracking(even with once a week cleaning and conditioning)

There is a service bulletin out for this: #04-8-50-006-(Mar 1,2004)

My dealer suggested that I wait until warranty is up and then have the seat(s) repaired under this bulletin.

Beware they will look for signs of abuse (cuts due to pens and knives in pocket--etc)

Also--if you have signs of wear( I did within the first week of picking up the truck)--then complain now---get it documented. That way this is easier to prove when the end of Warranty comes around.

I'd like to see that Service Bulletin.

Every vehicle I have ever owned (all GM) I have had the drivers seats repaired either at the end of the warranty period or before I trade them in/sell them. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley18.gif

Always the drivers seat from getting in and out. Jeans wear it really bad. My 04 seems to be taking it really well compared to the others before it. It seems that the leater where you get in and out is a lot thicker and tougher looking then the rest. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

I've seen some pretty severe creasing and cracking to the leather seats with very little mileage (less than 10,000) in some trucks. My nephew's truck was particularly bad. He's a horse breeder, wears jeans constantly and is frequently in and out of his truck. Have not noticed it to be too bad in mine yet, even with 13,000 miles, but I'm very careful about sliding my posterior on the seats when I get in and out.

For those who have had the problem corrected, what does GM offer, repair or replacement?

It is a definite problem. My business partner and I both bought 04s w/leather and the drivers' side seats are a mess. We have documented them with our dealer but service guy claims he has seen no other instances of it. I am glad to know about this bulletin. Thanks.

I had my seat repaired by GM. I was hoping perhaps we could get a copy of it for history.Hint hint...http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

I have some wrinkling but not excessive by no means but.

The first one I had done (93) they replaced the whole seat cover. Ever since then they have been sending it to an upholsterer to have the panel replaced.

Dealer had outside panel (closest to door) replaced at an upholstery
shop three weeks after I bought the truck. New panel seems to be
wearing ok at 15k miles.
