The new 05 LLY is now 310 hp and 605 lbft (with Allison). Manuals have 520 lbft. I have the brochure. The Dmax is now the KING of torque. Edited by: Maverick

Picked up mine just a few days ago - a GMC 2500 HD CC SB 4 x 4 in
midnight blue metallic (the color just came out for the 2005s and was
available only on the SUVs before that, looks really cool).

Now I can understand how somebody gets addicted to just a Pickup truck
with a diesel engine...really love that diesel power and sound.

The only culprit is the very bouncy ride, I have to investigate how to improve that.

Changed already the shocks to Bilstein but that did not help much at
all - much less than I expected for sure. Also that skinny tires ride
terrible and look worst!

I think it was well worth to wait to get the right truck in the right color with the right options I wanted.

So is it safe to say the brochures are out now? I checked last weekend and no one had it yet....

Mahilkita, I would have thought for sure that Bilstiens would have cleared your ride right up from what i have been hearing. I was thinking of getting a set for my bouncy rig as well but now im not so sure what to do!?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gif

If you aren't pulling with yours then let some of the air out of tires. Mine had like 70lbs in it from the factory. I let it down to 50 and it made a world of difference. You need to air them back up, of course, before you pull any sizable load....

fasttoys,

I heared and have read exactly the same thing - the Bilsteins are the
way to go. Therefore my disappointment after installing them. Basically
the same bouncy ride. I have asked the whole family to judge and
everybody said that there is no difference at all. I personally think
there is a little difference but almost not worth mentioning.

So far I am only driving the truck without any load and no trailer
behind it. Maybe the Bilstein shocks improve when the truck is loaded
or pulling a heavy weight, but I don't know. I am researching to
convert to air bags...to get back some of the lost ride quality I had
before with my Avalanche which I have traded for this truck.

I second checking your tire pressures. You don't have to get bounced around and beat to death.

Mahalkita - Your ride quality shouldn't be that bad, but I doubt you'll
get it as good as the Av. I have both, I call the Av my 4 wheel
drive LeSabre.......

I have had mine 3 weeks and I am at 3700 miles. Love the truck. Engine light has come on twice. First time was loose intercooler hoses. One week later codes again. Dealer is now talking with Chevrolet. (Codes - 2 on EGR & 1 on low turbo boost - identical codes both times). Will know more tomorrow. In the mean while, the dealer says it is OK to drive! Mahalkita, put about 6-50lb bags of sand or gravel in the bed towards the tail gate and you will get a smooth ride http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

Reaper,

I will try that, thanks for the advice. I will also check tire
pressures and lower it if possible. I think the best is putting on some
bigger wider tires which will carry the same load with much less air
pressure. Anybody changed the leaf springs to air bags? Are they soft?

I don't expect the ride to be like my Av was, but that would be really nice, also the handling...

Got mine at my GMC dealer. Chevy dealers should have theirs out too I would think. 310 hp is @ 3000 rpm....605 lbft is @ 1600 rpm.

3500 4wd Max towing cap. is now 16,7000 lbs.

You can now order 10 different kinds of 20" wheels (6 lug) on your light duty GMC. I thought that was pretty cool.

I am trading my current truck in. I have lots of aftermarket stuff with cheap prices in the For Sale forum.Edited by: Maverick
