I have a 1999 GMC K3500 that was surging, would start sometimes, and then sometimes not, so we replaced the pmd today. The truck started right up, and promptly shut off. The dash lights were so dim you could barely see them, and when we checked the relays, occasionaly they would light up again and then the truck would run. As long as the dash lights are dim, it will not start. There is plenty of juice-batteries are new. We doulble checked connections and ground wires, all are good. Using the turn signal caused it to stall when we tried it. This has NEVER been a problem until we changed the PMD. Could we have done something in the course of the change to have caused this that we haven't mentioned? Thanks!

Welcome aboard.

Need to do diagnostic checklist to give us all information. There was a reason it was surging before PMD. PMD may not have been root cause for your troubles. The "DC" will have links and have an answer key at the bottom of the thread for the questions asked to help in diagnostics. Post your answers back here and we can go from there.

May want to do a search for Ignition switch. (relay in steering column) Something worth checking into, but need to check out everything top to bottom to make sure your good to go.

P.S. fill in your signature line with your vehicle details to help us better. Thanks!
