: 17" H2 Rim and 33" Tire?

What all tires are there available for a 17" rim that are about 33" tall?

I am looking for an aggressive all terrain tire with good winter characteristics. I think a 35" tire is a bit too tall. There seems to be quite a few tires that fit a 16" rim but not many that fit a 17". I am trying to do this as economical as possible. I would like a 305/70R17 or a 33 X 12.5 R17

Thanks in advance. Curious to know what others are using.Edited by: Coghlin

right now 4wheelparts.com is having a weekend only sale of buy 3 pro comp tires get 1 free (but any transamerica wholesale dealer can get you this offer) with free ground shipping. I have a set of MT's that I love! But my next set will be the all terrains since I drive on the highway most of the time now. Buddy of mine has the AT's and say they work awesome! And with a 50,000 mile warranty, you can't go wrong!

The BFG 285/70/17 ATs Spec out close to a 33". I have a set on H2s and they ride well and have very little road noise. I haven't had a chance to test any winter weather as they are only about 2k old and winter is still a couple of months out in AZ.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

I think I am going to get a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers in a 295/70R17. They are only load range D but they are rated for 3195 lbs at 65psi. These should work on an H2 rim. I don't think I will need to modify anything.

Side load and deflection can get you a ...... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley18.gif.

Tires flex.... sharp turns makes soft tires push. Heavy weight makes them hot. The combo can get ya in a lot of mess.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif

Coghlin, my BFG AT/KO's kick ass up here in alaska. Only thing they don't help on is ice... but nothing helps on ice anyway. I am completely comfortable driving the beast in the weather up here.

The only BFG that would fit is the 285/70R17 and it is the same as the nitto: Load Range D and 3195 at 65psi. I think that a little more rubber on the ground will help traction anyhow. The little 245s squeal and scrub when they are really pushed because of the 7000lb truck.

I have approximately 28k on BFG AT/KOs (315x70-17) and love them. The ride well on the road, have excellent dry and wet pavement characteristics and are wearing very well. I'm expecting to easily get 40 to 45k out of them.

The best thing about these tires is the cost. Go to any Hummer dealer and you should be able to get a set of takeoffs w/ rims for around $500. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

I seem to have got talked into 285/70R17 BFG A/T KOs because of their track record and I haven't heard a single complaint yet. But my deal fell through on some H2 rims. I had a set bought for $150US but they got bought out from under me. Anyone know any other good sources for H2 takeoff rims?

Have you tried calling the Hummer dealers in your area?

On ebay, theres a company out of Indiana that sells sets for $189 occasionally. Don't know what shipping would be to Canada, though.
