Does anyone have any ideas whether something like this might work?

Maybe an after shutdown delay as well?

Source of cool air?
PMD heat sink remote mounting requires no energy to cool.
Are you thinking leave it on the side of the pump and adding this to help cool it or something?

Actually, I was thinking in addition to a heat sync. The air flow could be utilized to help cool the heat sync/PMD. Yeah, I know it draws power. That is why I was hoping someone could tell me if a 6 amp draw would be too much for the system.
I was thinking simply cutting a hole in the inner fender and pulling cool air through the fan and onto the PMD/heat sync (when I get a heat sync, that is).... Overkill, maybe?

Just put it outside the engine compartment (bumper) in a heatsink. The outside ambient temperature is much cooler than inside the engine compartment, even in the hotest day in Texas.

I'm not really sure why you would want to go through all of the hassle of rigging up an electric fan when most people seem to have excellent results just moving the thing outside and letting natural air circulation do it's thing. The fan is just another thing you have to worry about going bad on you. Simplicity usually helps reliability.

True it is just another "thing" to break down but for $20, why not try to cool it a bit more? I guess the $160 heat syncs are good enough
