Couldnt tell ya if its shot but a 95 should have a GM4 and thats what it looks like to me.

how much shaft play is there?

ive delt with alot of turbos on cars,not my truck yet and that is way to much shaft play on there.there often is some side to side play but up and down is bad,its touching your housing. looks like time for a new one to me.

Yea That is what I was thinking but I never worked with a turbo myself so I figured someone would lead me in the right direction.

Replacement would be in your best interest. Unit would still work in the condition viewed however you might be loosing a little boost.

That is what my feeling someone would say. It is just wierd that I did do some testing around the block with the waste gate tied shut and there was no boost. So I would agree with you that I am loosing boost.

I was thinking and doing some research I wanted to see if I could run a dmax turbo somehow. Still not sure what I amgoingto do.

Intake turbine shaft play is OK, turbine's/shafts used on the 6.5 turbo's will deflect enough to touch the housing if you force it a little, if there is no sign of tubine rubbing the housing its fine. My turbo looked very similar to yours 30000 miles ago and still liooks the same today.

The wastegate shaft can likely be repaired at machine shop or turbo shop, my local turbo/injection shop sent mine out to be repaired for around 150 $C.

Well I got a gm8 now and we will see how this thing works out. I do see there are some diferences in the 2. I do see there is a big restriction in the exhaust sid on the gm4. I will get some pics for everyone.
