I have been talking to several installers in Bakersfield about getting my system installed. ALL 4 of them have told that the PAC 24 is just an overpriced high to low pass. if true, then the sound quality would be worse than compared to a deck with pre-outs?

any opinions?

I believe that the information you are recieving is true. You will recieve better sound with an aftermarket deck with 4 volt or better RCA's or install a processer that will control multiple amps etc. A processer can be integrated with the factory deck and you have very good control over your system design. Audio Controls makes them! Great Product in my opinion!

No the PAC is not this.

I have never seen ONE stereo installer that understands how these factory Bose systems work

The bose head unit outputs LOW level signals, but they are wired with a sheilded ground, isolated +, etc, so you need the PAC adapter to extract the proper 4volt pre-amp RCA signal from them that is needed to interac with any aftermarket amp.

cheese look around on ebay, you can get an AOEM-GM24 for about 30 bucks. Its definetly worth it ;)

Boy is that the truth. Ben helped me through my nightmare w/ this last year. Not one installer that I've talked to has any idea about the PAC and they all say it will sound like junk, it's just a hi/lo converter. Just did a sub and amp along w/ the new door speakers and amp I did last year- once again the installer(different from the last one I used) said WOW I guess you were right, and these guys are JL certified. It can be very frustrating.
