new here. been following a couple other diesel forums and didnt know
this one existed til just recently. lots of informative posts for me to
learn from, and hopefuly contribute back to.

i recently bought a new lift pump from Napa. they have the ACDelco
product, and 3 others in the USA, but here in Canada they just carry
one supplier. part number I ordered is e3309. when i opened the box, it
has a different Liftpump, part number labelled e3158. it turns
out e3158 looks exactly the same as e3309, and will fit into the same
spot on the frame, however, it has differnent specs. E3158 is rated for
10-14 psi instead of 6-8psi for E3309. current draw is the same.
price was same. same fittings, same electrical plugin, just higher
pressure.

i think I received the E3158 in error, and don't know what vehicle it
is for, but, now that i have it, is there any harm in installing it, or
will it generate too much pressure for the injection pump? don't want
to send a lot of foam back into the return line. since we all usually
complain about the weak LP, maybe starting with higher pressure can
help? I havent' installed it yet, so can exchange it. appreciate any
opinions. thx in advance.....steve-r

The Delphi pumps we sell are rated for 10-14 PSI, you can't hurt anything by going with the higher pressure pump, if anything it will be benificial. Higher Supply pressure makes higher Transfer Pressure inside the pump and could improve startability and advance function if you have a worn transfer pump inside the IP.

E3309, thats AirTex right? No personal experience with them, just stay away from CARTER! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley21.gifEdited by: Texas Diesel Guy

wow, 6 mins for an informative response !! this forum is awesome.

thanks TDG http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif, the E3158 is going on the truck asap.

just saw your edit. the Napa guy said they had different suppliers in
Canada, he mentioned "Master" , so the only thing i'm certain of is
that its not ACDelco.

I've seen a lot of lift pumps fail not just on 6.5s and I'd say most of them have Carter Stickers on them, hopefully your luck will be better Adam. Edited by: Texas Diesel Guy
