I was looking for input on any 4 or 5inch cat back system (LLY) , but really looking for sound clips to really hear how they truly sound before I spend $400. In searching I have only found systems with the cat gone, and I know that sounds much different. Has anybody taken their muffler off and kept the cat on their factory exhaust too?

A friend of mine has the same truck I do, he did a muffler delete on the stock exhaust and I did the MF cat back. They sound similar, I think mine is a little deeper, I like it better. With the cat back they have a whoosh sound at first then as the rpms build it gets a nice deep growl to it. You can tell its not stock but it is not obnoxious.

On the factory exhaust unless you remove the cat there is not much of a difference in sound. If you want it loud at all you pretty much have to remove the cat.

Thanks guys for your help, at least it gives me some idea. Sure wish I could get a sound clip somewhere, but maybe I will take my chances and buy a cat back system for now, and if I don't like it,modify it from there! Its very tempting since I love the turbo whistle on the catless systems!
