hey guys, does anybody know what size belt to use after removing the vac pump. do you think this will help cooling just a little? probably won't even notice.

Go read the 'parts point' sticky....or use the search button....you'll find it...

I removed my vac pump a couple of weeks ago, and I used 101" belt. However I think the A/C and Alt are on different sides. On my 94 the A/C is on the passenger side and the ALT on the drivers side. Check the parts point thread, might be a P/N for the 98 in there.

99.5 worked best for my 96.

It's not there dudes, or at least it's not clear. It seems that the belt size varies for different years. For the older trucks 94-95 101" seems to be the ticket, but I think that is also the size of the belt with the vac pump on for the new trucks 96+

So......If anyone knows the size for sure for a new truck without the vac pump, post it up.

What Dave says for a 97 as well .At least thats what I put on (101") with a pump & it seems ok.

I used a 101" belt on my 98 and just put a 101" belt on my 94 this past weekend. All seems well so far. I found that the belt routing (and vacuum pump removal) on the 94 was just a little trickier. BTW - Both trucks had air conditioning, but as stated previously the compressors are on opposite sides of the engine.

Golds....Is that 101" on a 98 with or without the vac pump?

Thanks,

That would be WITHOUT a vacuum pump. I guess since I didn't know that it wasn't supposed to work on both, then it could!!!:D Both trucks also are/were with A/C.

If you have questions, PM countryguy828 as he is now the owner of my old '98. He could tell you the long term durability of that belt on a '98 without a vacuum pump. My current '94 seems to be doing fine with the same belt and no vacuum pump. As a matter of fact, as tight as it was getting that 101" belt on the '94, I don't think that I could use anything shorter...?

I have had the 101" belt my 94 Blazer for just over a month, which would be around 2,300 miles or so with no problems to date.
