I'm trying to get my truck started after swapping in a 6.5 engine. If I connect the positive terminals to each other and then run one cable to the starter will I get the same cranking amps to the starter as if I run two cables from both postive terminals directly to the starter?

Thanks

As long as the one wire to the starter is large enough to handle the current of the 2 batteries. I think mine is 1 gauge to the starter and 4 between the batteries.

if your cables and connections are good, yes. you still have a parallel circuit and you will get the same cranking amps. whatever you do don't wire them in series(like a flashlight + to -) as 24 volts will toast just about everything electrical on your truck!

YEapper Your right BUT I would think that trying to get both large terminal end on the start post might cause a problem. Thats why I always run 00 cable from battery to battery and battery to starter. I also use that size on my grounds to batteries.
