I am new to this forum and have been hanging around trying to glean some info about which tuner/chip gives the best power along with the most reliability. Thanks for helping a newbie

What year truck do you have and which engine?

Sorry, forgot the title before I finished reading your post. Best power would be PPE. Most of the downloaders on the market are pretty reliable. I think you will get the best drivability from either a PPE or a Predator. I can't comment on any of the tuners I've not tried any on my LBZ. The most popular are Banks, Bullydog and Edge.

You won't be dissapointed with the Hot+2, you just have to be careful this programer will shred a stock tranny. It does have some good levels for a stock tranny, I run mine on level 4 225 crank shaft HP I have a transgo jr but I can tell this level is a little too much for a stock torque converter.

I have a Bully Dog Power Pup, it's pretty good. The only problem I have had with it was that I had to get it updated after a dealer reflash. The truck was returned to stock before the reflash. I am thinking about the PPE Hot+2 Xcellerator though.

I think you would be happy with either the PPE or the Triple Dog from Bully Dog. I run both of these programmers and have not found any problems with either of them.

Edge (J/A or Evo), Bullydog, Diablosport, or PPE. We have been having good luck with all of them with little to no issues. The off the shelf units are all going to be pretty close in HP, but PPE has some hot tunes that rock. Be careful though, its more than your trans can handle.

for the people that have had PPE and Diablo which did they actually like better, got the most mileage out of and what about the shifting, does PPE shift better evne though it defuels or do you like Diablo better with no defueling. any responses would be great.

I have the Diablo right now and its ok just wondering about PPE

I personally like the PPE better but like I said I still run my Triple Dog the majority of the time. I will switch back and forth as the PPE does have more power, smokes more and is harded on the trans at higher levels. You will see better performance out of the PPE verses the predator IMO but it is totally up to you and what you plan to do with your truck.

i would go with the smaller ppe that way you do not have the higher levels to temp you to try them out. you can allways upgrade to a hotter box later.

what about mileage gains, i get between 13 to 15.5mpg, i am thinking of EFI Live and have the time for it but dont want to mess anything up, i had a Smarty on the dodge i got rid of and like it because i felt it wasnt just basic programming, just felt to me it had more thought put into it and thats what i am looking for

I would say I like the safety features of Banks or Edge juice.
