Listen to this SOB REV!
nice wheelspin on the exit corners.
Can we say Torque?
That is awesome!
I wonder how many RPM's they are getting out of that motor...

I think they said the AUDI's are revving to around 5500, so the PEOGOUT is probably pretty similar. I remember reading that AUDI rushed there diesel entry to get it on the tracks before PEOGOUT could get there diesel out.

The biggerst rush audi had was in fitting the new diesel into a 1 year older chassis, and a refit of the hewland gearbox for wider ratio splits and taller final drive for less wheelspin and a higher top speed .
The gassers rev so much higher 17000 vs 7000 for the diesel. they had to get the speed up.
Peugeot's Diesel is rumoured to be a camless diesel engine, with piezo injectors.
With no vavletrain to float, i wonder what the redline is. Diesel takes longer to combust than gasoline........ I wonde.r

It is a cam less engine but is still has valves and can still float them. The advantage of solenoid controlled valves is infinitely adjustable valve timing.

I brought this subject up last year just before Le mans. that Audi stomped the compettition last year. it will be interesting if Peugot can keep up. One of the reasons Audi did well was with mileage. I like the fact they are running bio in the cars.

True, but Renault's V-10 camless gasser did not float valves at 15,000 RPMs.
I would assume that a sub 10K RPM diesel would be cake then.

I can't wait to see that thing Duke it out with the Audi.

I watched some of the ALMS race from Houston on TV last weekend and those Audi's are wicked. You could tell it wasn't turning the revs of a gasser, but CBS needs to work on their camera angles so you can better pick up the sound of that big diesel. Too bad they aren't allowed to smoke a little bit.
