How important is it to get the reflash done on our trucks. My truck runs great at the moment, the only thing I do get is the smoking after it sits idling for over 10 minutes or so. Just want to see if its going to make any difference in mileage or anything like that.

My opinion is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I won't be doing mine unless there is an improvemtent in mileage or other problems develop.

If your vehicle doesn't have a problem, be leary of PCM reflashes. Sometimes there are undesirable changes incorporated into the update.
TRIVIA - In the case of the M3 BMW (European models) apparently their latest flash detunes the engine. The flash is part of a recall campaign to address lower end bearing failures.

I know a big reason a lot of owners were bitter about the 6.0 powerstroke was the reflashes that took away their pilot-injection, reduced mileage, and power in some cases. If it's anything like Furd's reflashes I would say as stated earlier, "If it ain't broke don't fix it.".

I had a 7.3 that ran great , and without my knowledge or
permission , they reflashed mine and it ran like doo doo after
the reflash. I was told the trucks were programed to run at max
and they “de tuned” them to cut down on warranty issues.

Got mine reflashed. The parking lot surge went away, haven't tried the long idle time to see if it smokes afterward but will as it gets cold around here.
If anything, mine seems to have a bit better low end, but that's strictly seat of the pants and it was without the Juice since I took it off for the stealer visit. With the Juice back on it, it seems to run just as it did before. The other interesting part, is it seems to lose something with the EGR disconnected, as I saw someone else post about...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif
I'm going to have to tinker with that a little bit, both connected and disconnected, and see if I can tell any difference.

My truck was similar to yours, slight smoke and a little rough idle that went away after a few minutes. Other than that, I was happy how my truck ran. I held off on the flash for a while until I read about it here on the forum.
Now, after the reflash, the conditions above went away, the truck idles smoother at all times, and my mileage is definitly up. I can get a consistant 19 on a trip now that would only net 17-18 before (I realize we are splitting hairs, but hey, every bit helps...).
I say get the flash! I am sure certain "updates" have caused problems in the past with other trucks, but this update seems to be working well. That is the beauty of these forums, you can hear the real world results first hand!
