Has anyone had any experience with running down the interstate and all of a sudden the engine gets twice as loud...mine has done this a few times, when you tap the breaks and then pick the throttle up again it stops but then starts after a few seconds...


I must say this truck has always seemed short on power compared to my 7.3 ford, and when it is making the louder noise it seems (maybe in my head) to run a whole lot better.


No rattling or banging...just like someone unhooked the exhaust kinda noice...

Take a note of the RPM at which it happens, it's probably the pilot inj. being turned off. Do a search for pilot injection and see if that's it.
