I recently picked up my second Duramax,I like this one more than the first.It is a 07 Classic c.c. short box.So far I have done the essentials mud flaps,bug deflector and nerf bars.The wife got me an early fathers day gift,4"turbo back exhaust w/ a 5" chrome tip.It'll be here this week sometime,I already took the old exhaust off ALL IN ONE PIECE!!!I would have been further off to get the sazall out!:driver: I wonder how it will sound with nothing beyond the cat.Do I dare start it and run it until I install the other exhaust?Wondered if it'll do any turbo damage?

i ran mine for like 2-3 days with just the cat and didnt have no trouble. i just unbolted the 4 bolt flange and left the rest hang there because i just wanted to here what it sounded like. i will warn you for the days it was off it didnt take long to make the underbody black.

thanks for the reply. went ahead today and took off the downpipe and cat, my wife wanted me to start the truck, but i didn't. hope i get the new exhaust soon.

It's not bad with just the cat. We had the exhaust removed on one to fit an air suspension. The truck was driven with just the cat until the exhaust could be fit to the vehicle.
