Well I got my truck back yesterday, It runs sweet! But now I found out the valve cover is leaking on the front lower driver side! :(
How much stuff has to come off to change out a valve cover on left side.?
Do I have to take off intake,, upper and lower to undo the fuel lines that go to left side of block??
When I found out the leak was just a valve cover I thought, no sweat,, till I looked at it,,, HOLY CRAP Looks like a 6 hour job to fix it!!!!:cussing:

You might be able to get away with just taking the lines off of the injectors and CAREFULLY bending them up to get enough clearance to slide the valve covers off....

I would Not bend the lines, the coating will crack and flake off and get into your fuel system and wreak havoc. If you have gaskets, not sealer, take the time now to do both of them now [while you have the intake and lines off]and DO NOT use gaskets. Get a tube of quality high temp silicone sealer, like the right stuff or great stuff, whatever its called. Clean up the head and valve cover surfaces real good and use brake cleaner or equivalant to get all oil,etc off and put a good bead of sealer on the valve covers then install them. Guaranteed no leaks if both surfaces are good and clean. The cork and/or rubber gaskets will eventually leak no matter how clean and straight the covers are so don't even think of using them. Yes the intake and lines will have to be removed to get the covers off, not really a hard job just takes some time. Shouldn't be too bad a job seeing that you have a new engine. Good luck.

Any issues with the silicone and synthetic engine oil?
This is automotive silicone, isn't?

Can't say i've ever had a problem with that? What coating is going to flake off? There is none on the inside of the lines, maybe your thinking of that nice green coating i put on mine at one time?

I use the gray stuff on all my vehicles. I get no leaks with that. I guess since mine are leaking on both sides and I just got done taking the intake off I better do mine to..

Gray is hi-temp for sensors, black is hi-temp oil resistant - use either variety, but the black blends in with the engine color, mo' bettah
I'd carefully bend the pipes up enough to get the vc off - driver's-side is easier than passenger-side, and your engine is new, so should be easy.
Main thing about bending the pipes is don't crimp them, and no sharp bends which weakens the pipe.
That was the main gripe on the DD 8.3 V8 - has the same congifuration injectors and pipes - but, the lifters are mechanical, requiring valve adjustments every year - imagine that job.
