: Need New Front Bumper for Suburban

Looking to replace my stock bumper with a better one. The current one is damaged and I was quoted 330.00 to replace it. So, my question is what bumpers do you like? I don't think I want a full brush guard, just a sturdy bumper with enough cooling. I don't have a winch requirement, but could possibly go this route since I am already into it.

So, please post any links or pictures and ideas or opinions.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you seen the newer comerical units that are high and have a 8" skid plate from the pipe back toward the body? I don't know what it costs for a bolt up $800-1000 possibly.

I have welded two so far myself.

Here's a picture of the one I built on my 82 K1500. Oh course the front was bout 250lbs and took 2 guys and big jack to mount it. Not shown is the 1/2 inch plate steel winch box in between the frame rails. The rear was built same for rear mounted winch but was only about 150 lbs

Nice bumpers!

I found this. Not bad. Not sure about the cooling, though.

QM,

I have not seen the bumpers you are talking about. I'll look around and see what I can turn up.

I like that style. There's a 4" pipe with the skid plate too. I see different ones driving around.

There's a couple custom bumper guys around here that get about $1000 to build one and weld it on.Edited by: quantum mechanic

Those look nice. How would you rate their quality?

If you want a stock one for less than 330 call Keystone at 800-426-2639.

"Triple Nickel Premium Bumpers are stamped from new tooling using OE quality steel for strength and durability. The combination of new tooling and three layers of nickel give these bumpers an exceptionally smooth surface before final chrome plating. After stamping, the raw bumper is buffed and polished to achieve a smooth defect-free plating surface. A semi-bright nickel is first applied, followed by a strike nickel, bright nickel and then chromed. All of these steps give the Triple Nickel Premium Bumpers a high-quality mirror-like finish. The Triple Nickel Premium Chrome Bumpers come with a Five Year Limited Warranty."

Looks like good stuff to me Tuscan

Stock with strip is $186.00 and that is list price, if you have a friend with a body shop you can get it for less than that.

I wouldn't buy much from LMC, they are shall we say, proud.

get one of their FREE catalogs, flip through it and see if you still think that. These are not their OEM replacement bumpers, these are premium ones, you can get OEs from them for cheaper.

I understand TDG, I have a 1949 Chevy 5 window, and I shop a LOT of
places for parts. LMC is very high on their freight alone.
Their parts prices are only about 10-15 percent higher on most stuff
than others, that is for the older trucks though, not sure about newer
ones. I just know that if you want a good replacement,
aftermarket is the way to go.

I have shopped them some along with other suppliers and found price in line and some hard to find things they have. I also do real well using OEM parts from the dealer. I have otfen beat aftermarket prices at the dealer.

Bowtie, again, I'm not saying for newer trucks they may be fine price
wise, however their truck freight is outrageous. I would rather
get the same stuff from ChevyDuty in OK for my stuff. As far as
AM parts vs. OE parts, in terms of body parts, you can't beat prices
unless you have a good friend in the dealership.

well all I was sharing was what I have seen and bought parts from all sorts of places when I worked at the parts plus store. I shopped around alot and found the best prices at lots of different places.

Guys,

Thanks for the great information. I know where to buy speed parts for my diesel http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif, but when it comes to bumpers and grilles, I am at a loss.

BTW, I spent the day searching the Internet for a grille and bumper and came across many sites w/good prices. The lowest price I could get for a grill (15981106) was about $95.00 and I had a really tough time tracking down a reasonably priced OEM bumper. My earlier post shows a picture of a bumper/guard with light cutouts that goes for 1400.
