I have a vibration/rattle in my dash that is getting worse. It seems to be coming from behind the radio/AC controls. I have the standard radio and manual AC controls.

I am looking to see if anyone on here has had the same or similar problem, and what the solution was.

I am a little aprehensive about tearing apart the dash. If I need to take the dash apart, how do I do it, and what things do I need to keep in mind.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the floor shift 4wd shifter? I do and I thought that the noise was coming from behind the radio. I tore the entire dash apart and it did not seem to make a differnece. I had my wife drive while I tried to identify were the soiund was coming from. The sound was coming from the floor shifter. There is slop in the linkage under the truck and also rattles coming from the way the shifter is attached to the mounting point inside the cab.

As she was driving I just covered the slot with my hand and the sound went away. Cover the whole shifter area with a towel and go for a ride. You may be having the same problem that I am having.

no, I have the push button shifter. I guess I will have to take the dash apart. I really haven't pin pointed it yet. Some days it sounds like it's coming from slightly different areas. I need to get my head down there while someone else is driving it.

i also thought i had the noise behind the dash but come to find out it was the floor shifter.did you do anything to cure it?
