Good Morning Everyone,<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I think most of you already know the saga of my Burb. Anyhow the shop I just took it too, won't even touch it. They think it will cost too much to fix. So it is up to me to fix it now.

It definitely has a badly blown head gasket, but I also tried turning the motor over when it was partially locked up. I could get the starter to slowly rotate the motor, but it would not rotate fast enough to fire it up. What are the chances I have a broken or bent rod? I would like to know ahead of time, if I am looking at head gasket and head work, or possibly a new long block.

Thanks,

Cranking it over with hydralock on the cylinders wasn't good but don't assume you screwed it up. Take a wait and see approach untill you get a fresh set of gaskets and possibly heads on it, unless you want to drop your oil pan and have a look.

I think I am going to drop the oil pan first. Eliminate the thrown or bent rod right off the bat. Edited by: Juancho

Generally, when you throw a rod it's the last sound you hear the engine make.

Once the heads are off, you can turn the crank and look at each piston at TDC and BDC perhaps with a dial indicator, to determine a variance

Good idea QM. I think I will try that instead of dropping the pan.

You should be able to find someone who can test the disassembled heads and say if they're good or not. Rebuilds are ~$500 and there's a .10" thicker gasket for the 6.2L to help compensate for the fresh head.
