I have an '01 LB7 that I have maintained since I bought it in Nov. of '01. I have changed the trans fluid twice, and replaced the external filter, and used Dexron both times. Now my truck has 50,000 miles and I want to go with the Trans-Synd, but I want to flush the system so I can get all the Dexron out. I have only lived in the Atlanta area for a couple of years, and am not that familar with the area, and the dealer I use can't flush it. Does anyone know of a trustworthy shop where I can have this done in the Atlanta metro area...preferrably, south metro.I also need someone who will use the parts I take them as I only use genuine replacement parts.

Thanks...Craig

Easy do it yourself job.

And JMO but you should change your external more often. The internal is just done at the time of rebuild. The above post has info on a deep pan witch isnt really needed. Might as well change the fluid in your transfer case too and put syn in there too. Edited by: ratlover

What I meant to say was I had changed the fluid twice...but I have actually changed the external filter 4 times. I have changed the external filter at app 10,000 miles, and changed the fluid at app 20,000....Do you think I need to change more often than that?

Thanks....Craig

Also.. I have never really liked the thought of using the engine to pump out trans fluid....JMHOEdited by: parker2510

Every 10k is fine IMO and about what I do.

Your choice on how you want to do her. I and many people have had good experience doing it this way on the ally and other trans. Pretty much the only way to get her done and get the old out.

Another option for a DIY is to dump all the fluid and pan. Refill with Synthetic, drive it a bit, dump it all and refill with syn. You will get close to all of it out after time. You could even do it at regular intervalls.

Dont know of any trust worthy shops sorry. Alot of shops and IIRC allison trains people to the above method. A "flush" is basicly the above method also.

I changed my Allison's spin-on filter the first time at about 2,500 miles, then again at 5,000 miles (looking back on it, I doubt that was necessary). At 25,000, 50,000 & 75,000 I changed both the Dextron and the filter. Have never found any metal attached to the magnet and the replaced fluid both looks and smells just like the replacement fluid. While I have read of some folks changing their tranny fluid more often, I really can't see any use in doing so.

Take it to Eric and get the Suncoast 3 upgrade!! That is the BEST way to get all of that Dextron out!!!
