Let me start out by saying although i don't post much, i'm always lurking looking for excellent advice. I have a 01 cc dually which is used daily to pull a hot shot car trailer. At 50k my d-max started doing wierd things. While driving down the highway @ speed the truck just shut off. Let's just say my wrenches get pretty dirty from time to time. I start w/the basics. Tranny? Fluid level is o.k., smells fine...still cycles through gear selections. Rear end? put truck in 4x4...nothing. I unplug Edge w/juice...still nothing. Something has made it go into limp mode.Cycle key...everything is fine. I took my truck to my local stealer only to be (IMHO)mis-diagnosed."Injector problem" I haven't had any such symptoms associated w/inj. problem. After 10 days, YES I SAID 10 DAYS (I'll get back to that in a sec) I get my truck back and it still shuts off. Turning the entire rear of my truck black. Back to the stealer. 1 DAY. cannot find anything wrong. at this point i'm pissed. Back to the stealer. I took their service writer for a ride since they couldn't find the problem without my .02. "Take the truck and I'll get a hold of an Allison rep." (keep in mind this truck is my life)He believes it's a tranny issue where the input/output speed sensons are not in time. After 9k miles stealer calls along w/GM rep...still waiting for Allison to call. Yeah whatever. Still pissed I go to the stealer, start in the showroom and bitch my way all the way back to the service counter, it definitely drew a crowd. Just so happens the owner of the dealership happened to be there the day I "strategically"decided to make a scene. "I'll get to the bottom of this" is what the owner told me. I decide to take matters in my own hands...i fix my truck w/a $31 fuel filter. You say "hugh" The filter in the truck only had about 6k on it, I change the fuel filter every other oil change. My problem is...O.K. Maybe the injectors were bad, which i don't believe, but anybody in their right minds(if they were any kind of mechanic)would change the filter first and especially after having the entire fuel system under speculation. I'm still waiting on GM arbitration at this point. The first person I spoke w/ @ GM said technically they did not have to cover any warranty on a vehicle used commercially. Yeah that's why on their commercial they show a dually bouncin up a mountain side pulling a piece of equipment sporting the phrase "Professional Grade" I told the rep they must mean the slope of the driveway to the local stealer service entrance. Back to the 10 DAYS. After day 2 to no avail...no answers (everyone including GM is aware at this point I make my living w/this truck) I was told by customer service to expect a call by the end of buisness...day2. No call. A.M. day three now. nobody can give me any specifics on expectations. Since GM cannot answer my questions or return a phone call for that matter, enter my states attorney generals office followed up by my good friends at the better business bureau all within a matter of minutes. 37 minutes to be exact, from the time i filed the complaints untill i recieved the phone call from the day before. funny how that works. On day 4 i was informed my injectors would be shipped out and in the stealerships hands no later than day6. With the way the weekend fell ,my truck was down a total of 10 days. My advice to ALL of you is do not roll over and lick yourself just because you get your truck back and you're happy. I deal w/ several dealerships everyday along w auto auctions. I see vehicles w/50-60k branded as GM buy-backs daily. Numbers that would actually shock you. As I informed GM, "this is not going to fix itself and, I'm not going away" Good Luck!!!
