I didn’t drive my truck very much this last winter but I‘ve been driving it allot more lately so I’m getting use to the noises and sounds again if you know what I mean. I get allot of noise coming from the trans if I’m driving at lower rpms in 3rd, 4th, 5th gear. Its not the growling noise from the solid flywheel. It happens when I have it in those gears at low rpm and let off the throttle and then get back in on quickly again. I know its taking the slack out of the drive terrain but it seems pretty loud, like a bang in the trans. Does it happen for your trucks as well? If I’m up in the rpms and let off and hit again there is no noise.
THANKS!

I know the noise, it dose it in mine in all the gears if i let the r's get to low for the gear. I should also add that these noises are about 80%less with the sprung hub DD!

Yeah I can imagine without a sprung hub it would be louder! Mine will make the noise if its at around 1,800 rpms or less and I let off and hit it again, not necessarily when the rpms are to low. It makes the internals of the trans seem kind of loose?

I've had the same problem and now just pay more attention to the rpms and keep them higher or shift up. Might also be a good idea to replace the tranny and TC oil if you have a lot of miles on it.

Mine, which is behind an 8.1L makes a pretty loud rattle noise when I'm acelerating and it hits the 2,200-2,800 RPM range. The noise comes and goes, one day its there then its gone. To me it sounds like the input shaft rattling around, either a loose pilot bearing or the input shaft bearing. GM opened up my ZF at 28,000 miles and replaced the input shaft, input shaft bearing and pilot bearing. I just hope they put it back together correctly.
