I've read that water/methanol injection can increase power and lower EGT's.Has anyone used this before. How does it compare to propane.

Sorry no one has replyed yet, so hear goes. I do run water/meth some times. I also run propane. I do not use them together any more though. Water/meth will lower your EGTs when used in moderation. It will not raise your MPGs any that I have noticed and it uses alot of solution too. I put it on for power purposes and blew a head gasket using it (huge amounts of it though). Propane increases your fuel milage slightly and also inceases EGTs because it is an extra fuel, not to say methonol isn't, the alcohol wicks away some of the heat. I have not done a long term test with water/meth to see if it does raise MPGs any. For pure power propane delivers better on a no modification or low moded truck because it can use the extra air. With heavy mods it has less of an advantage because all the air that it uses as well is already being used. Now add N2O and your outa there! Water/meth adds nicely to the same senarios when used at a 50/50 mix which you will also hear detonation in the motor. Water/meth is a percipitation in the air and not a gas and uses more room in the tight little combustion chamber, thus pressure. My Steve C. can chime in if I'm off on this one.

I run water/meth in my dodge and its great for lowering EGTs and good power. I have mine set at 40 psi as this is where I really start to see high temps. It lowers temps about 200 deg. in my case and gives me a real good kick just when I need it. I've never seen better MPG but that's not what I use it for.

How does the whole injection setup work?

I run the SnowPerformance Water injection system. It uses a variable controler to inject the water/meth into the intake hat. I used winter windshield washer fluid as it has 30% meth in it. Check out snowperformace.com

I do make a special inline manifold for this purpose. You can plug in the jets from the out side of it an remove it if need be for warranty work. Others are using it to plum in N2O and or Propane and the boost gage. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/SuperDiesel/2004-10-03_110412_Manifold_on_truck_2.JPG
