I know this has been discussed before but I just seen Diesel go over $2.10 here in Illinois and gas stay steady at $1.80 heck I may trade off both of my Diesel and get a gasser I can't see me getting any worse fuel mileage than what I get with my dually now 16-17 MPG I know I can't afford to drive that dually at these fuel prices man what gives $2.10 http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.gif

A good alternative is burning grease. SVO (straight vegtable oil) is an easliy gathered, filtered and the diesel truck was intended to burn it. A little diesel is still required to warm the truck and SVO and sht it down, other than that and you're burning grease. It's a very pleasant smell compared to petrol diesel and noncarcenogenic pre and post combustion. www.greasel.com (http://www.greasel.com)

I happen to like the smell of petrol Diesel myself, and I remind ya that just a few months ago those prices were swapped as gas got close to two bucks a gallon. I'm thinking that a duelie ain't never going to get the best mileage and I might find me another ride If I'm looking for fuel mileage and leave the duelie for the real work. If you get a duelie with gas motor you won't see the fuel mileage from it that you do from your diesel either.

What is the difference between diesel and furnace oil? Can't that be burned in a diesel and isn't it cheaper?

Heating oil can be run in the truck but it is dyed red, and if you get stopped with red dye fuel huge fines, and also some theorys that red dye may cause operability issues for optic sensor, a lost of debate both ways on last point, for me cost is too high if getting caught running red dye fuel.

I've been running WVO in my 88 for the last few months with NO problems. I last filled my diesel tank a couple of weeks ago, have driven 1100 miles, and the gauge is just now starting to come off the 'F' mark. Basically I start up and run on diesel the first 5 or so minutes and then switch over to the WVO, and then switch back 2-3 miles before my destination. I bought the 88 as a test bed so to speak, I just bought the 95 to get into something a bit newer, the 88 just turned 300K! Greasel is a great company and offers great tech support.

I know someone who tried red fuel with no problem but he also had some with a little waste oil in it so it looked pretty dark, almost black. The truck threw an optical sensor code and went into default timing mode. Seems like the red only worked OK.

I am just venting I will not sale my diesel but when I know it is cheaper to make diesel than Gas it is real frustrating I guess I will have to suck it up and drive on and drive my wifes car more often it gets around 35 MPG and just drive my diesel when I pull my camping trailer or when I need a truck.
