what does a fuel lift pump do and what is the reason for a high idle switch? i am guessing a fuel lift pump, lifts fuel but why and is a high idle switch for cold weather or something. I just got my first diesel and know nothing about them but this site is awsome. I am learning a lot.

the lift pump is needed to prevent outgassing on some filter setups. not needed on a stock truck

The high idle wire is used to activate the PTO function in the pcm mainly for cold weather folks warming there trucks up.

Thanks

Also Eric,

What setups is the lift pump needed on.... I have been running a racor r60 pre-oem with no trouble.... But should I have a lift pump also.... running the 90 hp juice.....

Thanks

crane, yes, the high idle will work.

ISNMU, the Racor setup does not require a lift pump not does the juice. your fine.
