the other day i was driving down the road and felt a little vibration under acceleration. when i let off it goes away. we'll when i pulled off the highway on my exit and went to take off after the light it was like my tranny was slipping. i thought it was in limp mode because i was stuck in 3rd with no reverse. checked for codes and got a Po700 which is Transmission control system error. after restarting i have reverse but forward gears work but if i give it a lil to much throttle it slips and i wont move and the Drive indicator starts flashing and if i switch to 1st it will take off again, but if i push to hard it slips and kicks out, and starts flashing. if i turn truck off and restart i got all gears again if i am real easy on it i might be able to hit all the gears with out it sticking in one. usual in 3rd. When this all happend I had no cruise control and no 4low, they wouldnt lock in.

After clearing the code and restarting po700 comes on right away with out moving shifter.

Would this be an electrical problem like a bad sensor/switch? since when i have the problem bad and restart the truck it goes away but slips yet?
or would i have a problem like a torque converter or something?

any helps thanks

Check out the NSBU switch sticky thread at the top of the allison oem heading. I think its related to that and its a free fix. The thread lays it all out for ya good luck.

also check your transfer case for fluid.i had this happen and it was the shifter arm thats moves beyween hih/low range had all the teflon wore off and would slip into the neutral postion.sometimes while cruising at 70 mph.

P0700 is just a general trans problem code that stores in the engine control module. You need to get the specific code from the trans control module to diagnose properly.

i took it to the tranny shop nearby, the guy read the codes and it put about 7 codes out under that po700. he is kinda baffled by it but will figure it out he has done alot of em but cant figure this one out kinda. he dropped the pan too and there is no clutch residue either. hopefully he'll figure it out i was gonna do it but didnt kno what kind of special tools required for an allison. i rebuilt my 4l60e tranny on my 96 1500 piece of cake

If there's lots of codes but no clutch material in the pan I'm willing to bet it's an electrical problem. Check out all the connectors and plugs for broken or corroded wires and terminals before you start tearing into the hardware.

If you can post the code list. There's lots of knowledgable people here that can help point you in the right direction.

alright... so dealer says tranny is fried.. and there may be an electrical problem that caused this...so i need some advice.. they are saying $5200 to rebuild the tranny with a 1 year warranty or $4000 for a new tranny with a 3 year warranty... kind of a no brainer on that one. my truck has 102,000 miles and they say it might be covered under the 100k warranty, but they said that it only looks like the engine is coverd under that... i thought it was the 100k Drivetrain warranty... they are gonna research it and hopefully warranty it..

And i was wandering since i need to rebuild it is there any other kits out there through like suncoast that i can get and take the tranny to a tranny shop to rebuild it and i have a higher horse rated tranny? i kno there is things like it but was wandering if there is a kit i can buy that has everything i need?

plz give me some advice as to what i should do and have a tranny that would last awhile.

Why would you pay that much to a dealer only to get a trans that will not hold any power?

Exactly... thats why i am asking you guys if there is a complete tranny kit or complete tranny i can buy and shipped to my house that i can put in that will hold in plenty of power..
