Well I order and took delivery of my GM XM kit (12498768)and it didn't have the antenna in the box as the instructions said the kit included. Has anyone else ran across this?http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

You can't be Sirius!? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

But seriously, the factory GM stuff is set up for XM. You can get Sirius if you go after market. Soundgate offers an interface to integrate an Alpine Sirius unit into the factory head unit. I don't have any personal experience with it though, I have only used their XM interface. Hope this helps. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif

Actually, a member here did install sirius through his factory equpiment, using the soundgate stuff. Worked just like XM.

Like $300-400...Too much IMO. I went with an aftermarket install. I am using the new Delphi Roady2. Works great, and a lot cheaper than the factory unit. PLUS. I can take it out, and use it in my work vehicle, home, office or wherever, and pay one $9.99 subscription rate. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

If you like rock music, go with the sirius satallite, it has much better programming than the Xm satallite and the sirius sound quality is much better than xm. Sirius sounds very close to cd's. Xm is horrible sounding at loud levels. I went with a clarion hu to replace the factory. I got the clarion hu, the sirius receiver and the antenna for less than $300.00 recently for my wifes suburban from ebay. this equipment cost me over $600 from the stereo shop and is the exact same equipment for my truck.

BamaFan,

How did you set up the XM? Is there a way to interface with the "XM ready" factory stereo just as the factory XM does (without using an FM modulator)? And do you know if you can use Chevy's XM antenna?

I'd like to be able to move the receiver between cars/boat as well.
