i have a 03 cc dually with a dmax and the speedo is trippen out. what is doing is i guess not going down to 0 it still goes up and down just not to 0, when i am going 25 it says 120. the only thing i can think of is that the motor that turns the needle has skipped some teeth. does any body know how to fix it other than a new cluster$$.any help would be appreciated

My first guess would be the speed sensor in tranny or Transfer case or possibly a loose connection somewhere in the circuit for it.

if it was that i would think it would mess up the tranny shifting and cruise control.

Not if the loose contection in circuit is after speed control data
pickup (between ECM and speedo unit, check conectors behind dash and on
ECM because speedo meter signal comes from ECM)

i'll try that it makes sense but still don't think it would cause it to not zero. worth a try though. thanks

It can cause it not to zero if wrong null signal is sent. It
could be gauge but I would eliminate everything else first.

don't know why but when i started it after work the speedo went all the way back to 0 and was correct allthe way home. i still pulled the cluster and unpluged and blew out the conector. we'll see?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

My guess is still a intermittant conection that hopefully you cured.
