Hey all,

Im finally going to lift my Dmax. I've been worried about warranty issues, but feel like my truck needs bigger shoes!!! My last truck was GMC Sierra gasser with 4" rancho (tweeked to 5") rs9000x with 33's and air bags in the rear. I frequently tow a toybox trailer, and MX toys. Also just purchased some land in TX and got me a 65HP John Deere tractor. I will be towing it around occasionally.

I have searched the forum and read a lot of great posts here. I want to thank Blaine (afp1) for his exhaustive research on suspension. I think I am going to follow his lead and purchase another Rancho set up. I have and itch to up-size to a possible 6-8" CST and 35 or 37's, but I know I'd have to change my 3.73's. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif(Another worry of voided warranty)

Im not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to gear ratios, but was hoping to see if anyone here runs 35's comfortable with 3.73's w/o losing much HP or towing cap. If so maybe Ill dupicate my old set up and run 33's.

The 2nd question would be to ask if anyone has any recommendations of repetable installers in the modesto/sacto/san Jose cali area. I recently moved to Tracy. I have seen a few trucks around with the "liftkit warehouse" (Antioch, Ca) stickers on their rides, but haven't had a chance to talk with anyone to get feedback. Any recommendations and positive/constructive responses would be appreciated. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

There are plenty here that are going large, but not gearing up. Most "Chip-Up" to compensate. There are plenty of good reasons, yet cost is one of the greatest. More bang for buck chipping, but then there is the tranny that ought to be beefed, etc.

I had my truck re-geared for about the cost of Edge w/Attitude. I kept my power and don't have to worry about hiding my box or explaining the pyro sender when I might break down at some inopportune moment.

I am not the greatest of mechanics but I can get by. My greatest enemy is time.

I have the CST 6" (buy a HD truck, get a HD lift and don't gripe about a few dollars!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif) and 315/75R16s and travelling these hills caused me to downshift more and I didn't have the same power to recover speed on a hill if someone cut me off. I bumped up to 4.10s. It won't get you back to 3.73, but it will put you close with a 3.62 final on 35s.

You would need a 4.23 to get back to 3.73 exact and they don't make it. I don't think they make a 4.30 either. I think it just jumps from 4.10 to 4.56 and I doubt you wanna go that far unless you opt for the 8" and 37s then 4.56 would put you at 3.76 (a little more grunt!).

I used Randy's (can't say enough about their customer servicehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif) to source the gears because the dealer wanted $950 just for the rear ring and pinion. I got both front and rear AAM gears and had another dealer closer to home install 'em for just a hair more than that and I keep my warranty! I could definitely tell the difference and have been very satisfied.

Can't help you with the install in NorCal, but if you happen to be in Utah, I know the right guys!

Take this mans advice! Rancho makes a great product and if you want to run 33s thats probably the way to go but I would highly recommend CST. I think there are alot more pros to the CST than Rancho.
