Was towing with my 04 crew cab dually and the temp on my Edge monitor got as high as 210 is this to much? The stock gauge never got close to 210. How high can you go and be safe?

i know i shouldn't go here but, IH navstar runs a 203 degree thermostat.F thought they new better and went with a 195 degree, changeing to a 203 gives better fuel econamy, smoother, and more quite operation, but still loud, oh heater work really goood!
diesel combust's more at the higher temp more clean burning, more mileage! i dont know on 6.6 but
probably not far from 200 to 210 degrees

210 is high but okay. What level was the Edge set at for power? You could cut that down a bit and that would lower your temps.

I believe the computer will back your power down if you hit 255 degrees. 210 is nowhere near dangerous.

The Edge was set on 2 when the temp got that high. Most of the trip it was 192-201 degrees. I also had the A/C on the whole time. Just don't want to hurt anything.

IMO I would say nothing more than 230 or higher... you can set your edge to back down at certain temps just go thru the menus.

Watch the EGT's if possible, I have just a lil ol Superchips 2705, and the EGT temps while towing my boat were pretty high, so I backed it down to tow safe, and it made a BIG difference.

So if you are running the Edge on a higher setting, back it down and see if that helps.

I know you were talking about water temp, but they will go hand in hand eventually.....like on a long trip

The EGT's never got any higher then 1150. That was on level 2. On the trip there I had the Edge set on 3 and the water temp and the EGT's were lower. I think alot had to do with the fact it was cooler on the trip down than it was on the trip back.

I will routinely see 225 going up the hills in KY and TN while pulling my 13,000 5'er. I tow with the Edge on Level 2. EGT's rarely topped 1200.

210 is fine, while I have never seen it, it is still fine, and those egts are very cool for your truck :)

I was pleased with the EGT's. The temp worried me a little, but now I'm cool with it. Thanks guys!
